My kick-off resource kit for professional exploration

Updated: Oct 22, 2018

I'm using Prototyping to explore how SaaS can help Couples in Long Distance Relationship with Communication Barrier.

I had been in a Long-distance relationship for 3 years and this kind of upset conversations are only the tip of an iceberg in our daily (I doubt this frequency though) communication and interaction. I recognized this challenge in a very early stage, I did research, I took actions, I initiated conversations, I even designed a small app before trying to address the problem.

The end of the story, as you can see with the tense I used at the start of this post, didn't respond to my efforts. The good news is that now I have a more comprehensive and object view toward this issue. And together with what I've learned in the program, I have faith in discovering and defining the problem better, as well as practicing more skills by developing the product.

Book list

Connecting Across Differences by Connor, Jane Marantz and Dian Killian

This is a required text of our Communication by Design course featuring non-violent communication (NVC). Despite the fact that we are mainly reflecting on how NVC facilitates design process and communication system in organizations, I found the skills and methods described in the book (define feelings & needs, attentive listening etc.) super applicable to relationships, and so is demonstrated in the examples provided by the book itself.

Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman

Picked from Julie Zhuo's booklist. Here's what she said: "If you want a deep look into human psychology in all its wonders and irrationalities, look no further. " 🤔
